Laser Weapons in space work by reacting molecules together to generate a very small wavelength. Lasers are fired at the target as brief pulses of light, which generate shockwaves that damage the target.
Some commanders have also been known to use weaker lasers as a means to blind the enemy fleet during combat. However, this is frowned upon by intergalactic law, and those found guilty of using the Laser Flash formation will be forced to step down from their position as commander.
